Problem with NFSIII

I just got the games, installed it and went to ran it.  The installation
went ok, the game boots up ok, but when I go to load a track, it freezes
when the track is finished loading.  Has anyone else encountered this
problem?  I'm running a PII 300, 128 RAM, 14 gigs o' space.  ATI
ALL-IN-WONDER 2D card w/ Monster I 3D board.  All my DirectX drivers are
certified.  I'm just about at my wits end!  Thanks for any info.

I have the same problem, but different hardware. I have Pentium Pro 233
196 meg ram, Mystique 2d card, and monster 12 meg 3d card, and Sound
Blaster 32 card, and direct x6. Have tried various things, but always the
same result of*** when track is loaded.

Do you get an error message or does it just hang?

(Just checking - might be a silly question)

No error message, just hangs at completion of loading track!!

I had this problem also. I uninstalled the Demo, NFS3 (full game), and
deleted all the uninstalled directories. Then re-loaded NFS3, haven't had it
lock up on me yet.

I'm another one.   It did exactly the same thing with my computer and
also a mates.  The game runs fine until it has just finished loading
the final part before the actual game play begins.  ie the loading
line along the bottom of the screen gets to the lower right of the
screen and then stops at the end - nothing happens - just when you
think it would 'kick into life'.  Both of our machines locked up and
had to be reset at the same point each time.

I have reinstalled twice now and still no luck.

Both of us are running Celeron 266 chips with 100mhtz boards.  I have
my chip running at 400mhtz and his it at 412mhtz.  Overclocked - yes,
however this is the only game that we have that doesn't run so I doubt
that to be the cause.  I have a Pure3D (6meg) 3dfx card and he a
Diamond Monster (4 meg).  We both have 64 meg (100mhtz) ram and
running Win98.

I have reduced my speed to 266 mhtz but still have the same problem.
I have the latest driver from Canopus and DriectX 5.0  I've sent an
email to the boys at EA and am awaiting a responce over the next few
days......

Had the identical problem until I clicked on the "REG" file and updated the
system registry..

Excellent! I don't suppose you can enlighten us with exactly what
"reg" file you are referring to??

I have just had a quick nosey and can't see anything obvious or am I
just a tad blind??
