NASCAR2-small review using a Pentium 150

Hi,

I installed the demo with no problems by following the Web site
instructions they gave. I am running a Pentium 150/  using a TSW
steering wheel and SB16 sound card and viewing on a 21" monitor.
I have run the program for about 3 hours now. To get the sound of
cars and spotters, I copied the sound.cfg over to NASCAR2 from NASCAR.
Does the copying of the calib.val help with the wheel controller pedals?

Good features of NASCAR2:

1. First thing I noticed is the new design of the menus are very well
done, even though alot of the features aren't functioning at this
time. It gives us a good indication of what is to be implemented.
2. The track layouts have more detail to the tracks. Both tracks have
been redone and are great to drive on. Got first on both tracks with
the strength at 96%. AI cars handling seem to be very good.
3. The cars on the track are clearer and have more detail on them.
4. The spotters are fantastic. Sounds like Benny Parsons as some other
   people mentioned.
5. The car handling seems to be better to me with my TSW wheel. This
is my own opinion. Seems to have very good or better traction.
6. Replay window is great. There different views then in Original
NASCAR. It gives all the stats on left side of display.

Things I have noticed or observed during races:
1.  The mirror does not display what is behind me. Reading mail today
I read the M key selects the mirror viewing. Will try that tonight.
2.  During pace lap and being last in the pack, I cannot see the pace
car and first row of cars with 30 car forward viewing selected.
3.  Observation: When I get off the grass at Watkins Glenn, it seems to
to me the grass is much slicker than on original simulator. It might
be just my first gut feelings on this.
4.  You will probably find out if your using a wheel controller with the
demo, I had to use my shifter buttons for acceleration and braking.
and the pedals worked the shifting( I used autoshift for testing).
I seemed to drive very well in this mode.
5.  Replays need some final touches on the viewing of the tracks as the
cars go around the track. Good views though.

All in all, I feel this is great simulator. I cant wait till the 3D
cards come out to see what this will look like in 3D on a 21" screen. I
hope all the rest of the tracks handle as good as these two in the demo.

Dave I agree with everything you said about N2, cant wait for the whole
product, I hear it'll be released around the 17th of Nov. This will
certainly make Thanksgiving special this year with 2 great sims released
and I guess a new 3D version of ICR2 according to rumors :)
