Based on comments in the past, I have a feeling his problems are more
related to frame rate and controller setup. Without those two optimized, he
won't see much improvement after working on technique.

Very interesting Dave. I know that I have never been able to match the times I
used to turn with my old TM Pro non FF. I am at best a backmarker using FF
where I used to actually win now and then :)

Yeah, I need to add "install TS" on my to do list.  I usually forget about it
until someone asks when I join the RASCAR race.

I'm sure it's at least 'Two Things', but I agree with you.

In the Daytona race, I was dropping to 28FPS coming off T4.  Boy, *that* was
fun in traffic...*sigh*.
I think it dropped to about 31 at Chicago - I was too busy turning to notice.

What FPS do most of you get?

I think I was around 50 to 60 at Chicago.  Depends on where I was and who
was around me.

I turn off shadows, sun-flare's, etc... and leave the important stuff like
drawing distance, quality, trackside objects, etc... all cranked up.

I have *most* of it turned down(or off).  Which means I lose brake markers that
others take for granted.  I'll eventually find a happy medium between framerate
and adequat feedback...<g>

The *absolute* best thing you can do is to fire up F1C, and do as much road
racing in the F1 cars as possible. *Every* other road racing you do in
whatever sim will then feel much easier.

Same here, that's why I'm a happy non-ff racer. whenever I try my
mate's Momo force, I simply cannot get anywhere near the laptimes I
manage using my home TSW setup, and the controls feel much less
accurate. Cheers,

uwe

That's probably because the default settings for the momo are far too strong
and are almost undrivable.

If you're talking GPL, then GPL's FF isn't particularly good compared to
more modern games.  You can make it so it's not too bad with a lot of
messing around...

No, the other guy is a simracer too and swears by his ff settings and
wheel. I just cannot cope with it seemingly.

No matter wether it's GPL, F1C, N200x, I'm slower with ff, simple as
that ;-) The springs in the tsw give me all the force feedback I need,
although of course it's rather "linear" ;-)

I does take some getting used to Uwe.  The FF in NR2003 is pretty sad, to
the point of being more a nuisance than any kind of help.  F1C/mods is
better but it wasnt till the GTR mod that FF really shows its strengths.  I
cannot imagine running GTR demo without FF.

That should be "It" as the first word and GTR Demo not mod.

That teacher was sure right way way back when he told me the importance of a
proof read *before* submission not after :-)

Hey Mitch, no worries. You'll find out about magic things like
"quoting" and "avoiding top posting" in your next lesson, I am sure
;-)

Thanks for the comment, but I think I have all the FF I need with my
TSW. Anything more would surely kill my old, arthritic shoulder
joints.

all the best,

uwe
