GPL - New Laptime Standard

I really appreciate the folks who have hotlaps posted on their webpages.
Thanks much!
What I'm suggesting now is a possible "new" hotlap standard measured as
follows:
How about posting the HIGHEST AVERAGE laptime from a series of 20-25 laps
at a track?  (The user could send in the screen of lap times and the average
then calculated)
I think this would be a better way to see how drivers perform in the long
haul.  Anyways, it's just a sugguestion.

Thanks!

Personally I think that would be a much better method to determine the
really talented drivers, although I think in GPL we would find it
would be almost the same people you see at the top of the charts at
the moment.

Two by-products of hotlapping are that you run an awful lot of laps
and you get a very good understanding of the limits of the car (to say
nothing of plenty of practice at catching mistakes as you overstep the
limit). Even with GP2 and ICR2 on CompuServe full length races, the
guys at the front where the hotshoes like Achim Trensz, Doug Arnao,
Ralf & Michael etc - the same people from the top of the hotlap
charts.

It probably would be, although the 3.5 hours required to enter a
hotlap at the Nurburgring could be a problem with wives...! :-)

Cheers!

Use that to view laps before the replay was taken.  GPL stores all the laps into
the replay (even if you cut a fragment) so you can still see if times are
consitent or one lap wonders.  I tend to see on occasion the 3 or 5 minute laps
which leads me to believe they take a rest sometime or have a life outside of sims
which also needs attention (say the phone rings).
Although I really don't see the need to check up on somebody's overall
performance.  If they did a fast lap they did a fast lap...no disputig that.
