GPL with ATI Xpert 98

Steve,

I too used an ATI Xpert98 before going to a banshee. Using the original GPL
demo I really didn't have any problems other than not knowing how much
better the graphics are with the 3dfx chip. One thing I can say for sure is
DON'T use any of the newer ATI drivers.
I never saw any improvements and most times the drivers hosed my system.
Stick with the drivers on the install cd.

I also have an ATI XPert 98, PCI version.  I was also getting 15 or so FPS.
I added a Maxi-Gamer 12 meg VooDoo 2 and it changed everything.  Its worth
the investment.

GPL with ATI Xpert 98

I've just recently started playing the awesome Grand Prix Legends, but my
frame rate is worse than I expected at 15 fps max as the game only
(officially) supports Voodoo and Rendition chipsets.  My PC has an ATI Xpert
98 8MB AGP card installed last August, which apparently uses the ATI 3D Rage
Pro drivers.

Does anyone know of a downloadable hack to 'force' GPL to accept my ATI
video card?  I'd welcome any suggestions to speed things up, aside from the
obvious ones I already use like turning off most graphics options.

Would more recent ATI drivers assist, too?

Thanks,
Steve Smith
