All that has worked for me is to make sure and exit Chat before
joining any races and before exitting Vroc.  Tedious, but it's working
so far.

I've tried exiting Chat before I race and before I log off but when I log
back on and turn on the chat window it locks up 25% of the time. I wish
someone had a fix.

WINVROC Chat problem

As I understand the problem no one has the definitive answer. What works for
me is mIRC. D/L and install mIRC and go to Shadowworld. Then fire up VROC
w/o the chat. Then before racing close mIRC so it's not using up bandwidth
while you race. When done racing start up mIRC again. It's clunky but not
really much of a hassle.
Or do what I did. I bought a new P3 700, 256mb RAM, V5 5500, 19 inch
monitor, etc etc etc, and now I don't get that*** problem more than
once a month or so. In other words, something somewhere is configured that
VROC chat doesn't like on your machine. Try mIRC. I didn't have one crash
from chat in about 3 months. And I was getting a crash about one out of
three times I used VROC chat before switching to mIRC.

Well at least by closin chat, u save yourself the headaches of a corrupted
player.ini

WINVROC Chat problem

I have noticed at times I can just click on the chat button to turn it
on and BOOM I am locked. I have chat disabled almost 90% of the time.
I don't really need to talk, I am there to race! :-) Too bad I am too
slow!!! :-(
