That would depend on the various system configurations.
What you are asking for would be meaningless without
more info from you.

Well, you left your system spec out, which is one of the most
important factors. My computer is probably a low to mid spec box for a
gamer, but I've grown tired of the upgrade game.
A mid-level P2 will run everything adequately if you're willing to
make a minor resolution compromise, so instead of running out for the
latest hardware, I've decided to let it come down to me. <g>
I bought my TNT2 in January for $80. I almost paid 300 for the card
last year before I changed my perspective on the hardware goose chase.

P2/400, 128meg of RAM, 32 meg TNT2.

Instead of running 1024x768 with a lot of detail turned down, I opted
to run 800x600 with everything pretty much pegged.
The only place I notice a slowdown is at the start of the Evolution
races when there are a few cars on the screen.
I might turn off lighting and some car detail when I run through that
whole series, but Factory Driver works great with the settings I'm
using now.

Not using wide angle, BTW.

I'm also a "midrange" guy who likes to buy after the hardware is "chic"
(and expensive) -- I got off the upgrade bandwagon long ago, and I
don't regret it a bit.  With my Voodoo Banshee card in my mid-range AMD
K6-2 400 system (64 MB RAM), I run 1024x768 with high world details,
max draw distance, wide screen, high car details (not max), and
lighting set on low with good results.  The lighting setting seems to
make a big difference, FYI.

NFSPU best settings!!

Screen size: 1024x768x16bit
Car Detail: High
Wide angle: ON
Car Lighting: High
World:  Very High (very high setting eliminated the 'predator'
syndrome' on the asphalt in front of me and no noticeable hit in frame
rate)
View distance: High

I also have force feedback on with road effects and engine turned off.
Frame rate seems smooth. I do get slowdown if there's a bunch of cars
that pile up in a tunnel or something like that. I'm using bumper cam,
I generally prefer***pit but this one takes up too much screen.

System

Voodoo3 3000 AGP
128 meg ram
LWFF wheel
