N4 vs Heat Question

by TlgtrPr » Sat, 30 Mar 2002 23:54:08

I have raced Heat on my computer becuase I was told that it didn't require you
to set up the car--and to date have been happy enough with i-setting up the car
is not my best thing to do..  (And it allows me to race the trucks..add the new
paint schemes..)..  But it doesn't have all the tracks.  My understanding is
that N4 does?

Now that the N2002 is out the price for N4 has dropped...and I am considering
picking it up for the extra tracks.  Does it have a mode where the default set
up is usable?  Is there a place to find set-up's on the web?  HOw hard are they
to put in the game and use?

N4 does NOT have the two newest Nascar tracks at Chicago and Kansas, but
those are available with N2002.    Now Heat does not have either of those
AND it does not have Pocono, although there is a bootleg version out there.
Heat offers more variety, N4 more compelling racing strategy.  N4 is
probably more dependant upon decent setups so if you haven't messed with
those, you could be disaapointed, although, there are literally thousands of
setups out there for N4.  Heat can also swap setups via it's IRF multiplayer
utility...

N4 vs Heat Question

I am sure I can find the set-up's on the net...how hard are they to put into
the game?  I basically just do the single race mode for wherever they are
racing this week--before I watch the race.

I basically plan to stay with Heat but for the right price would like to try
the tracks I don't have with Heat.  I tried an Indy add-on track and was not
happy with it--the AI or the groove or something was off...

"installing" setups is no problem. All you do is drop them in a folder and
thats it, other than selecting them in the game. As for N4 I would say look
around for a sale and get Nr2002 instead. I have seen Nr2002 for as low as
$29 USD.  N4's AI are very poor compared to Heat's. NR2002 is a buch better
product for offline play.

N4 vs Heat Question

I would say stick with Heat.  I have had every single Nascar game Papyrus has put
out (With the exception of N2k2 since it just came out).  I have found that with N4
Papyrus has really missed the boat.  Especially if you want to race online.  N4
seems almost impossible to control and they have really taken the joy out of the
game.  They have some things to make it more easy to control the car but as soon as
you turn these features on you slow almost 1 to 2 seconds from everything else.
MHO is to stick with HEAT and wait for N2k2 to come down in price and then give it
a try because I have heard N2k2 is supposed to be a little better.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply...I actually did get a deal on NR2002 and am giving it a
try...in the arcade mode I can at least race..though any little bump puts you
into the wall...(this is the reason I gave up on F!-2002-if you purt all the
aids on you are just riding along..)..we need somebody to make the other tracks
for HEAT..........

Don't be afraid to give sim mode a try. I usually find it easier to drive
than arcade.
