Nascar Heat v N4

Nascar Heat v N4

After trying to get Nascar 4 to run right on my AMD 600, steath video card
16mb, i dumped it and got Nascar Heat.  Have to say I was surprising surprised,
it runs great and with the first patch i am actually enjoying it.  Its not as
detailed as N4, but for the casual sim racer, have to say its right up there
with F1CS2000 and I love the way it does yellows and pitstops much better than
N4.

While I can't agree about the Yellows and Pitstops, there are portions of
Heat that are better.

The graphics are, IMHO, better.

The steering is better because MGI listen to those of us without perfect
wheels and gave us a trim tab in the setup screen.  Here's to hoping Papyrus
see's fit to do the same.  It IS a problem for many of us.

I have to cut it off there, though.  Everything else I prefer in N4.

In a way, it's nice to have two good SIMS fighting each other now.  Keeps
the developers on their toes, and competition is good.

One thing worries me about Nascar Heat/MGI/Hasbro, though.  As great a SIM
Viper Racing is, it was released and became a "Take it or leave it" SIM.  We
saw one patch, no new tracks, and no further development.  It is what it is,
and it won't ever be anymore.  This is truly a shame given the quality
experience Viper Racing is.

Hopefully the same isn't true of Nascar Heat, but I am concerned...

Realize his system specs put him at the bare minimum for
N4.  So Heat should look and work better.  N4 can be made
to run on a 16 meg board, but it's not the ideal choice.
In fact the old stealths..(is this the Rendition version?) did not
run D3d as well as other boards...it would work, but there
are better choices...so given his system's limitations...
Heat probably would look and feel better than N4.
However, I do question his judgement...see the last line :)

Checking on their forums, MGI is going to release another patch to
address some of the shortcomings of NH. They aren't claiming it'll be
perfection but NH2 is supposedly in the works. I can't wait!!!!! If
they incorporate the "neat" stuff from  N4 into NH2, it'll be a killer
sim. (Obviously, N4 waited to see what NH had in it to see how it
could be suceeded.)

Let the competition begin!!!!!!
