goodness me

F1 2002,  for some reason insist on you using digital
joystick.
there is no option at all

so load up your best setup
go for a spin  ( literally )
at 80km/hr ( 50miles/hr ) and do a sharp
turn and the whole car will just spin hopelessly out of
control

the other ridiculous thing is import
your best setup from F1 2000,
the ones that has worked well
and suddenly in F1 2002 they are ALL OUT !!!!
NO ***Y USE ,
ALL WRONG

SHIT

F1 2000 wasn't exactly the best physics implementation ever...

Not sure exactly what you mean, but it is analogue using an analogue wheel.

If for some reason it's working as a digital controller, it will.

I'm not surprised they're wrong, F1 2000 had a fairly ***physics engine.

Digital joystick
look at the option for joystick
and immediately you get " digital sensitively etc

"John

You really must figure out your purchase.  Analog is fully available in
F1 2002.   Once you get your controller properly configured, you might have
a more enjoyable experience.

By loading up your best setup do you mean your best setup for F1 2000????
I think you will have to let go of your past setup work and begin anew.
The products are just too vastly different to expect a rushed 1st attempt
(actually a barely tweeked SCGT physics model)to still work with a 3rd
generation physics model that is present in 2002.
There are several sites that have some 2002 setups available, perhaps one of
those will be more to your liking.

As I said elsewhere,  F1 2000 and 2002 are totally separate products.  I
wouldn't expect my setups from the Original World Circuit to behave in the
Current GP4 sim, nor would I expect any program that featured upgraded code
to behave with previous versions.    Can you take the theory of your setups
and transfer them?  Yes, but the actual numbers will be so far off, they
will be, as you found useless.
But what you are missing is this......
2002 is a superior product compared to 2000.  2002 does a vastly better job
at modeling the physics of a F1 car.  2002 has so many more options in the
setup area and in the physics calculations themselves that your previous
efforts at setting up a car will now be very VERY incomplete.
If you are really industrious, you can go into the physics ini files and
comment out the various improvements, the additions, the changes and you can
make 2002 a sloppy bad piece of junk, just like 2000 was.
     NOW THIS IS CRUCIAL.
Just because YOU don't like 2002, and prefer 2000, that isn't wrong.  You
are perfectly right to pick and choose what you prefer.  I merely point out
that  most of your complaints are actually compliments.   Every thing that
seems to upset you is actually an improvement.  Unfortunately you can't see
that.  If someday you move beyond 2000 and enjoy another title then good for
you.   Your posts are almost Biblical....You don't know what a diamond you
have in your midst.

Welcome to formula1 cars.

You might have noticed that professional drivers actually spin real
formula1 cars. Montoya's spin this weekend was probably at only 80k's - or
maybe even lower.

Ahh. If you don't play these games with force feedback wheels then you
really haven't experienced PC race driving at its best.

If you ever get serious (ie you get a wheel) you should try
  GPL + forcefeedback patch
  Nascar4
  F1-2001 with forcefeedback patch.
  F1-2002

And make sure it is a good force feedback wheel. Personally I use the Momo
but you can get away with cheaper wheels.

If you are driving with a joystick then you are outside of the market for
these games and you can not expect to get decent support.

If you are joystick driving they think you are a console type gamer -
hence your lack of options.

HEY DAVE

yeah the game improved but to say that the
previous setup are unusable is quite another

yes cars improve
yes technology improve
but the physics are physics , right ?

at the very least, the old setup should
give you a decent run on the track and
not be spinning round and round, yeah ?

are you using joystick ?
if so, you MUST TELL ME what you did
cause I am absolutely clueless as to how
I got "digital responce range" in the joystick option

the THEORY of your setup should be transferable...but the numbers
themselves would be totally useless.   If you prefer a stiff low chassis,
you can have that, but taking the 2000 #'s and trying to copy them just
won't work.  That's how BAD 2000 was.  Now 2001 setups...might be closer,
although even those are missing items that are now part of the 2002 setups.
But 2000 was just a hackneyed collection of cludges...they took SCGT and
tried to make it feel,(physics be damned) like an F1 car.  Starting with
2001 they began to build a more fully realized F1 sim.  Not just a knock-off
of SCGT.
So YES physics are physics...but 2000 made precious little use of
them...that is why the numbered values of 2002 are so radically different.

(sorry I missed this part on the first reply)

"John Metcow" >

I have a 3 axis wheel/pedal.   I am guessing if you are using a joystick,
then you are probably assigning throttle and brake to buttons rather than to
a moving axis on the stick.  If you can assign the gas & brake to analog
axis and use the buttons for other functions, like pit speed limiter, or LCD
changes, then you might get a different result.
  Good LUck.

Hmmm Gee you use a momo Well good for you!!!

is it not strange that the really Sim wheel manufactures do not make the
them FFB..?????

I would not have a FFB wheel Least of all a MOMO!
