Well guy's I'm finally ready to do a few upgrades to the old 486 in here
and would like your opinion.  Should I get one of those overdrive chips
or just replace the entire motherboard with say a P150 or P166?  Also
what kind of 3D accelerator do tou reccomend?  Computer mainly used for
Nascar, Indycar 2, NFS, Destruction Derby, MTM, Doom2, etc..
                          thanks in advance

Well Mike, go for the Gold.  With the price of motherboards, CPUs, and
ram being so low, go for the new board/cpu/ram all at once.  The Pentium
overdrive chips don't work all that well.  I have seen posts where guys
have some compatability problems with the overdrive chips.

BTW, get a p133 or a p166.  The p120 (which I have) does not perform
that much better than a p100 and the p150 does not perform much better
than the p133 (from what I'm told).

Hope this helps.

John

P5-166 or (200 Pro if you can afford it)
32mb of memory (or more)
4gb SCSI hard drive
Intergraph Reactor 3D video card
SoundBlaster-16 (or AWE-32 if you can afford it)
SCSI 6X CD-ROM (8x's aren't trustworthy IMHO)
17-inch monitor with lowest dot pitch you can find (I have a Sony 17sf)

I play Quake (Rendition version), ICR2 (Rendition version), NCR1 (and soon
Rendition version of NCR2), and Descent on mine, and Win95 and WinNT 4.0 run
real sweet on it too.
