GP2: ACCELERATED TIME BUG DURING QUALIFYING

by Daniel Chene » Sat, 18 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I may have missed everyone talkin about this but has anyone else
encountered a problem with accelerated time fetaure during qualifying ? I
have completed a couple of qualifying laps and return to the pits and press
the ">> " section on the***pit display.

This begins the accelerated time feature, but unlike in GP1 where you could
halt the accelerated time anytime u want and qualify again, there is no way
you can suspend the accelerated time. I have tried the GP1 method
suspending the accelerated time by pressing the Gear change button (ALT
Key) and the various accelerate and braking keys as well which have had no
effect.

Now is this a rule modification of some sort (which would be quite a stupid
one ! ) or is it another of those famous bugs that have been well
documented in this newsgroup ?

BTW does Microprose and especially Geoff Crammond ever read this newsgroup
and/or offer comments like the Papyrus software company does? If they do, I
wonder if they are going to take some of the opinions and comments into
consideration and hopefully produce an exceptional update. If they don't
they could be creating trouble for themselves by not taking these opinions
into account.

My personal view is that GP2 is a very good game but omissions such as no
wet weather racing (possibly understandable due to processing contstraints
but should still be in there) and the the unused sound files ( containing
the pit team sayin "pit now" like the spotter in Nascar 2 ) have created
what i call an excellent (but unfinished) piece of software.

Any help with the Accelerated Time problem would be appreciated, Thanks.

Daniel, I have used the accelerated time repeatedly, and it cancels
without any
problem. Whilst in "accelerated mode" the "cancel" option is permanently
highlighted. Just press the gearchange button to return to normal time. If
this
fails, then I can only suggest you've got a joystick problem.

Hope this help,

Microprose...Once in a while we'll see a post by them....The last post I
saw by a Microprose rep stated that NO updates or patches are planned for
F1Gp2.  What you got, is what you got.
Consider the 6-8 months delay in releasing it your patch
