E3's forgotton sims

Hey, it seems we didn't read a lot about the following sims:

Skip Barber racing from Bethesda, Trans Am Racing from Motorsim and NIRA
racing from Bethesda (might be mistaken about letters, so many drag
racing sims from them are named alike). What ever happened to those?
Sure the Mercedes truck thing is kinda cool (if you're into that sort of
thing... I hope they model the brake water coolant. I heard that they
have 5 liter reserves to cool the brakes during the race. Makes for some
interesting strategy).

Yes, it is too bad that only the most hyped mainstream sims like GP3 and
N4 got most of the attention.

Well from what I have been able to tell (online stuff *** mags
etc.) Skip Barber is in flux,Trans Am Racing was canceled due to the
company closing (still a small chance of getting picked up) and the
drag racing sim IS one of Bethesda's main games (as far as I can tell)
so that might make a winter date but sounds probable for a may
release.
The only truck sim I know of is Hard Truck 2, and while #1 was a pure
race game,#2 is a delivery sim with a race course thrown in.
Not too bad of a game especially considering the country of origin
(Russia, a place where V2's &3's are rare so a few glitches are
present but they are fixing them), it is kinda fun

Any presence by Motorsport Simulation at E3 (they acquired Tantrum) and
are still talking about a winter release for their SCCA Trans-Am sim and
a new NHRA sim from the Trantrum folks?

I think they were at E3 with Trans-Am and had a demo there. I'm going by
hearsay so I don't know for sure.

Mercedes Benz Truck Racing is coming from Synetic and uses their
N.I.C.E. 2/BreakNeck engine.  It should ship in early fall (August?)
in Europe.  The BreakNeck engine has great frame rates and lush
scenery.  The screenshots of MBTR are very impressive.  Definitely not
for all tastes, but fun for those who like really heavy iron.

Well, the cars in Nice2 drove like shopping carts at WalMart, but they
promised good physics for MB Truck Racing. We'll have to wait for the
demo...

FWIW, Motorsims wasn't at E3 (at least I didn't see them, nor are they listed
in this year's guide), and Bethesda didn't have a copy of Skip Barber on hand
(some movie thingy on the drag racing game was all there was).

This year's E3 was about who could produce the glitziest, highest-dollar
four-wheeled spectacle for the PC...Microsoft, EA, Hasbro and Sierra had all
four corners sewed up.  However, rumblings of a real sim was hidden away in a
media room upstairs...  ;o)

Cheers!
Marc
