GP2 & Matrox Millenium 2mb Ram (help)

by Anthony Kuli » Tue, 22 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

I am having a problem with the game crashing, I get a GPF. Only if I get
into an accident or go off the track while playing GP2. My configuration
is:
P200
32 mb ram
M. Millenium 2mb video card.
I have installed the latest bios version available for the video card
but I don't know what's causing the game to crash. I run the game in
DOS. Can anybody help??? Please e-mail me.

        Any info would be appreciated,

                Anthony Kulin

Don't worry, it has nothing to do with the Matrox. It's caused by
something else.
Unfortunately we don't know exactly what. We're trying to figure it
out. You could try another***pit. There is a slight possibiliy the
crash is caused by a newly used***pit.

I have almost the same setup - P166, 32MB, 2MB Millenium but have had no
problems at all with GP2. I'm using the 2.4 BIOS, but you're probably on
2.5.

I would suggest trying each of these in turn :
- use scandisk to see if your hard disk has any errors
- use a diagnostic prog to check other aspects of your system e.g.RAM
integrity
- reinstall GP2 from the CD
- downgrade the BIOS to 2.4
- contact Matrox
- contact Microprose (this NG's favourite software house...)

On a whim, I recently purchased Screamer2 on sale for $30. Having had
only
one sesssion I found it very difficult to keep the car under control
with
the steering wheel (Formula T1), even with the steering sensitivity set
to low.

Any suggestions on how to get more control over the car? I am not sure
if I am over throttling the car but it sure ain't going where I want it
to!

Thanx to bits,

Richard

I found that I was having problems with steering, I have the Grandprix
1.  I set steering to high, and run it in DOS, and found the control
to be better, But it could just be preference.
