Hot Pursuit 2 - No force with Microsoft FF Wheel in Win XP

I have no force effects with Hot Pursuit 2 in Windows XP
using my Microsoft FF Wheel USB (with Sidewinder Software 4.0)

Work fine in Win 98 though. Anybody knows of a workaround? TIA.

I really dont know what im talking about here, and im sure someone will
correct me when they realize im wrong, but i thought that the sidewinder
4.0 software wouldnt work at all with XP.
I got that idea from:

It is assumed that the 4.0 software won't work in 2K/XP because it says it
is for Windows 9x only when you install it.  However, if you ignore the
warning and install it anyway, it works fine (for what it is).

Here's the funny as hell part.  Microsoft has awarded WHQL certification for
XP to this software _in it's current condition_.  Yes, software that
outright says it's not compatible was awarded WHQL cerfication without as
much as a tiny update to fix the installer.

So much for the integrity of the WHQL certification process...

I guess when you own the keys to the Lab, you can break any rule you want.

Have you tried running it under the win98 compatability layer?  And if
so, did that help?
