T2 spring woes

T2 spring woes

Man, I've about had it with my T2. Now, granted, I've had this thing for 2
years now, and really it has been a decent piece of equipment for me. But
there's know way I think it can hold up for racing on Ten. Tonight, during
a Wilkes race, my brake spring broke. Pulled out the spare parts, replaced
the spring with what I thought was the correct replacemt, reaasembled and
calibrated. The brake was way to soft, and felt like it was dragging on
it's return up. Off comes the cover again, and I dissamble the brake pedal
once again. I did through my bag of spare parts, and come up with a heavier
spring, coiled only twice. I put it on, what a pain to bend it back behind
that screw, and reassemble. Now, my brake is a lot stiffer than it was, and
is taking a lot of getting used to.
TSW, here I come! Please tell me the springs last longer in it.

The spring lasts longer on it.  I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and
the  brake spring broke once after about 2 years.  TSW seemed sort of
surprised when I told them it broke and I needed a replacement.

Hi Don,

Well we have a lot of 4 year old TSWs out there and never a broken
spring yet, this has never been an issue with our product :).

T2 spring woes

I have repaired my return springs using small, slender bun gee cords.
My pedals are mounted on a plank, and I put a***eye in the plank and
attached one end of the bun gee to that and the other end to the hole in
the pedal shaft. Seems to work fine.

My brother and I broke brake and throttle springs regularly on our T2's
until we modified the pedals to limit their travel to about 60% of the
stock travel.  Haven't broken a spring since (knock on wood!)
