T2 woes

I just bought a Thrustmaster T2, but am having some problems with it.
First off, does anyone know if it will work with the joystick port on
your soundcard?  I've tried this; when I use either the wheel or pedals
separately, they work fine, but when use both of them on my one port,
the wheel doesn't work.  Has anyone else had this problem?

When I got my T2 and I love it. I use it with the pedals from CH, cause
they are more responsive and much easier to use with bare feet (during hot
weather).

The key is getting a separate joystick port card that can handle the speed
of a 486 or Pentium. The port on a soundcard just can't handle it. I got
a CH Gamecard 3 but there are several out there that automatically adjust
for the computer's speed like it does. They're not expensive, I think I paid
$30 or $40 for mine.

You might need the coverter (availible free from tmaster) that forces
the pedals to use the Y axis on joystick one. This should not be a
problem on Indycar 1 or 2 but is on need for speed.

Matt,
You don't mention what kind of sound card you are using.  You need to make
sure that your card supports TWO joysticks through one port if you want to use
the T2 wheel and pedals.  My T2 came with an adapter that lets you put the
pedals onto the y-axis of joystick 1, so this is great for games like NFS
which don't read joystick 2.  BTW, I am using a SoundBlaster16 with my T2 and
it works fine.

I run my T1 through my PAS sound card.  I have a P5-90.  I'm just
curious, what range of numbers do you get when you calibrate the game in
NASCAR or ICR2.  This would give me an indication as to whether I need
to get a separate card.

I use an ACM speed adjustable card and the T2 the calibration values
are 1 (low/left) - 519 (high/right).  Could'nt get the 1 till i got the
ACM card.  The only advantage i notice is tighter turning, which IS an
advantage i guess.  I used the port on my Ensonic card before that and
my low value was 9.

Some multi-function cards have this problem, mine did.  Use the
adaptor that comes with the T2, that should fix ya up!

Is that what that little black thing at the bottom of the box is? I
couldn't find/didn't see any documentation on what it was and what it
does.

I tried the adapter when I first bought it, and it didn't work (by the way, I'm using an
SB16, sorry I neglected to say that in the original message).  After a little
experimentation, I got it to work using the adapter; instead of putting it between the
hookup of the pedal and the gameport (as the instructions tell you to), I used it
between the wheel and the pedal.  Now everything works fine; the wheel is a LOT more fun
to drive than a joystick.

It works just fine with the joystick port on my Sound Blaster
AWE32.

I suppose it depends on the soundcard.  I also just purchased the T2 and
I have it running through the joystick port on a Soundblaster AWE 32 and
it seems to work fine.  You may need to make sure you have the little
black adapter connected between the T2 cable and the joystick port- I
know mine won't work without it.

Actually, your joystick port must be a dual channel port capable of
controlling two joysticks at once.  The SB16 should be okay, and the AWE32
should as well.

Personally, I have the Thurstmaster ACM game card ($50)  connected to a
Joyswitch joystick switchbox (Egghead $50) which allows me to run with either
my FLCS joystick (for Descent) or my T2 (for Nascar Racing) without unplugging
anything.  Works great.

BTW, I saw T2's at Circuit City for $99.  Egghead wants $129 for the same
unit.

I have a T2 and have used it with SB16 and my new SB32 with no
problems.  Maybe it is a coincidental problem?
