Can someone please explain this to me.  Compatibility?  Performance?  Need?
Cost?

Works with Abit bh6 MB.

8 ms in some cases.

None for now, but there are exceptions in some graphic intensive apps.

$100 +/-

Cool!  I'll yank out the two 128MEG PC100 DIMMs I paid 229$ each for and buy
four 256MEG PC100 DIMMs at 100$ each!

No, you don't necessarily need it (or have it).  Check around at:

http://www.tomshardware.com

They have some articles about the realities of MEmory and lots of other good
stuff, too.

It is worth noting that the speed of your RAM doesn't affect the speed of
your computer, really.  For instance, putting 60ns RAM in where you have
70ns RAM now is not going to speed up your computer.  Either the RAM can
keep up or it can't.  The speed of what's being fed into it (and sucked out
of it) doesn't change based on the memory installed.  Better/faster memory
might allow you to tweak you BIOS settings a little higher though.

A lot of memory's function is apparently a quality issue; manufacturing
tolerances and the like.  Crappy memory will often not allow you to push it,
where the 'good' stuff is more likely to.

They are supposed to be for 100 MHz bus systems (P2's at 350 and above, some
of the AMD's).  They are downward compatible with non-PC100 SDRAM (ie, DIMMS).
They won't be any faster at 66 than non-PC100.  The price is only a tad
higher, so might as well buy for future-proofness.   However, I have one that
refuses to work at 100 MHz, while one of my non-PC100 does work!

Does that mean that all PII 350 and above have to use PC 100? Does my HP
Pavilion PII 350 come standard with PC 100 SDRAM? How can I find out if it is
or not? Thanks.

Since the bus is at 100 MHz, I think the answer is "yes".  But I have a stick
of non-PC100 working at 100 in my oc'd 300A.

All the PC100 I have (all two of 'em) have a sticker on them that says
"PC100".  But that's an easy sticker to put on anything...

Maybe someone else can give you chip #'s to match.  But if it is working at
100, what's the problem?

Good luck! The 256M Micron PC100 SDRAm I bought last month was priced
at almost $800US. But it is a 7ns chip also...woohoo?

There is no problem, everything is working fine. What I want to do is put in 128
MEG more memory (I have 64 now) and don't know if I need to buy PC 100 or not.
Will they both work if the 64 meg is not PC100 and I put in a 128 meg  chip
that is?
