MX300 USERS!!!!.. driver warning

by James Pickar » Mon, 10 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I have had massive problems lately with my computer crashing ....

I have an Diamond Monster Sound MX300.  Great card..

I was running the latest Vortex2 drivers  (2040 I think) and these drivers
don't work very well...

I have:

Pentium III 450 overclocked to 558mhz
BH6 m/b Flash upgraded BIOS
64 PC100 ram
Voodoo2 SLI

I changed the Sound Drivers back to the default ones  (1.02) and I haven't
had a crash since...

Just thought the sim community with MX300  (the best game port you can get
btw) would find this useful

It may be due to your processor being overclocked some cards get messed up
with O/C'd processors (the signals get smeared). I had the same problem on
my MX100, it screwed up with a driver update and I had a 166 O/C'd to 200
when I clocked it back to 166 the problem disappeared.

Why dont you try the 2041 release of the drivers.  I believe they fix
some problems that arose in the 2040 version.
