How do you get edited tracks (Lowes without pit walls) and tracks not
part of the original game (Daytona or Pocono) to work in online
racing?  On edited tracks I get an "altered track" error message and
then anyone joining my game is disconnected.   For tracks not part of
the original game, anyone joining is just kicked out after a couple of
seconds.  There has to be a way to get this to work.

You have to have the same track as the host.  If you want to run
Lowe's without the pit wall, then you need to host the race yourself.
Of course only those other drivers who also have the Lowes patch can
join your race.

The second part of your question regarding non-official tracks.. ie daytona
et al.... the won server's will not let you host a race with these tracks
selected initially..what i mean is.. you can start up as a pike's peak
race.. but stay in the lobby as the host..when everyone has joined you can
THEN change the track to eagles II or even sears 99 (mmmm!) THEN enter the
track  .and off you go!
                                                               jv... ok?

Actually, I am hosting the races myself and I burned a CD of all my
tracks so that we would all have exactly the same tracks.  Still get
the same error.

That is odd, we run converted icr2 tracks all the time....hmmmm
I'll ask the host if he does anything special.

I'm not sure what the problem there is...several others have had it
too.  Make sure you have all the standard setup files in the track
folder.  ace.stg, fast.stg, qual.stg, default.st1(one) race.st1 etc.
also compare the tally.txt file with the daytna.txt file(or however they
are spelled.) and make sure they have the same # of lines.  The exact
series of numbers will be different but they should match up line for
line.
  good luck
