Need help with Papyrus games ?????

by Benoit Courchesn » Sat, 18 Nov 1995 04:00:00

I want to know if someone in the World play Nascar or the IndyCar II demo
with a Gravis Ultrasound and a joystick !  I can't fix a joystick problem
so maybe someone could help ! My pc is a pentium 90 mhz, 40 megs ram, scsi
drives plugged to an Adaptec 3940 and a Thrustmaster ACM game card. Now,
here is my problem : The game port on the ultrasound is correctly disable
with ultrinit -dj twice in the autoexec.bat. I play nascar or ICR2 demo
perfectly when i put the soundcard to none in the setup.  But, when i
enable sound, the joystick won't calibrate.  again, I'm sure that the
port on the gus is disable.  I play other game like Need for speed and i
don't have this problem.

Cases like this are usually indicative of some type of hardware conflict.

Gravis Ultrasounds are notorious for being picky about who or what they sit
next to in a CPU.  I had a GUS which exhibited the same problem you are
having.  My solution was to get an SB16, but you may wanna try swapping out
cards to locate where the conflict is.
