SODA offroad.....WOW!!!!

I just picked this up for $19.99 at EB and I am really e***d. This game has
been around for a while, I know, but when I saw it for that price I figured I
would give it a shot. What a great game. Awesome graphics and realistic
physics! What more could you ask for? Just one question. Can you download and
import tracks like MTM? Is there a web site for this game? (I guess thats two
questions)
Thanks in advance.

I've seen it for $9.95, and others have reported seeing it for as low
as $4.95...Beat that.  ;)

I have it too, it is a great game, pretty sure that it uses the Grand Prix
Legends engine, but toned down, kinda like a mix between N2 and GPL, but
more on the N2 range.

Nice game excellent AI but the only vehicle I enjoy driving is
the buggy.  The 4x4 are too cumbersome.

Finish here: http://www.racesimcentral.net/

The buggies are my favorite and the 4x2 trucks are a
close second!

Meet me and the others on Kali for some head-to-head
action.  SODA is even on Cases Ladder (If your into
that kind of stuff).

Software Allies made SODA.  Do you think Papyrus shared/ workedwith them on the
initial engine for GPL?

I would think not, but the game is fun anyway.  Yee Ha!

I really see some connection between the two, when I was at E3 I made some
refrence to it and Dave Matson got a little annoyed. I think Papy plays it down
because SODA kinda tanked. If SODA had been a big success, Papy would have been
all over that.
The connection might not be so obvious, if we looked hard I'd bet some of
the same minds were involved, or in bed together.
I also expect that some physics info could have been gathered from "RC"
cars. I'm really reminded of RC racing when I run SODA. Some of my friends are
big into RC and belive it could be true.
Bottom line is I love SODA and GPL and it breaks my heart to see a great a
game as SODA in the $10 bargin bin when I have bought so many crappy $30+ games
that were supposed to be great. F15 & Unreal being the latest.

Definitely, I was into Off-Road RC cars in a very big way, and the handling
similarities between the two are uncanny - I can use my years of experience
to quickly sort out a good setup!

Me too. On the bright side, it means I bought a great game, shortly after it was released, AND it was a reasonable price!

BTW I like the 4x4s best, mainly because I was always better at 4wd with the RC and I enjoy the easily controllable, massive oversteer :)

Also, probably noone knows what I'm on about, but I think the buggy looks absolutely identical to the old Associated RC10 (1/10th Off-Road)

sorry about going on :)

Tamiya's Frog from years past comes to mind, although the buggy handles
closer to an RC10...Guess that makes MTM2 a Clodbuster?  ;)

Cheers!

chance to get an in-car view !
I couldn't fit into my RC 10 (s)! hehe But sim racing is so much easier
!.......... No more turn-marshaling ! and No more climbing those damn
driver's stand steps!
