Monza...
Practice until 12:20 eastern, then 12 laps qual, then race.  Good luck!

oops.  I started with the ARrows and was 3 seconds off my practice times
in a Williams.  So I left to get a Ferrari, since nobody there had one, and
I couldn't get F1rst2 to restart.  Bummer...of course even with my 3 extra
Williams seconds, I'd still be two behind the next slowest fella... :(

Man, what a miniscule turnout!  I have to admit, I wasn't really gung-ho
about racing 21 laps with just 3 people, knowing I'd likely be all alone at
the back anyway.  I then hit N. Charlton coming out of the first chicane --
not like me at all and I apologize.  But it appears that Spudster held up
so you could catch up and race.  I crashed soon after and lost rear wing,
then retired.

Hopefully a bit more people can show up for Indy.  Was it just an issue of
you guys having problems getting into F1RST2?  I couldn't get in initially
myself, and had to download the latest version manually from their website
(it wouldn't auto-update properly).

Yes poor turnout... where is everybody who signed up?

There's always something that catches me out with the race setup. This time
it was forgetting to reset my brake ducts after practice so my brakes
overheated in race. This caused me to tap Neil at T3 on about lap 3 or 4.
Did I damage your car Neil? Too bad we couldn't finish, we might have had a
decent race in the end if my brakes hadn't gone off.

Anyway lets say Neil won cuz his practice lap times says he owns that track
(1:23.7 I think)... good job!

I finally got into F1rst.  Apparently the server crashed while we were in
practice.  It didn't affect the Ras race since they had already left F1rst2
for the practice and race, but I could not rejoin.  I wonder if an
emergency ip# could be also announced so we could join in via gamespy?  Of
course this takes away the cheating protections of F1rst2 tho.

Not a problem - no real damage Spud. I thought you had pulled out as I
couldn't see or hear you. Just as I hit the esc I heard your motor :(

Shame about the turnout. Everyone gets so enthusiastic talking about these
things and Eldred goes to a ton of trouble to organise things and hardly
anybody shows :(

Yeah - let's all say that ;)

That was what I speculated(server crash).  I couldn't get in, either...  Not
like I would have done anything but be in the way - I hadn't run any practice
laps.

How deep into the "Not very good" driver pool are
you willing to go?  For example my best Austria is 1:12,
and Spa is 1:02.  I lap about 2 or 3 seconds off that
pace.  The only assist I use is traction control set to
low.

I'm pretty good at getting out of an online driver's
way when I see the blue flag.

Well, if *I'm* racing, that's pretty deep...<g>

LOL, with Monza, I was guaranteed a podium position even if I finished
last. ;-)

Spa in 1:02???  You're an alien!!!!  ;o)

Seriously just show up, you'll be fine.  I'm about 2 seconds off the pace at
most tracks and I finished second at Australia, the last one I was in.  In
fact it sounds like you and I could have a pretty good little race by
ourselves.  An intense battle for 3rd or 5th or whatever.  I'm expecting a
lot of "incidents" at Malaysia, there's some *** corners there.  If you
can go the whole race without crashing you will almost certainly have a
podium finish.  Sounds sad, but what the heck, it's all in fun.  I have
crashed out twice in a row now but I'm still going to show up next time.  As
long as I don't take anybody else out I will continue to show up when I can.

Hi Dave:

Can't we just go peer to peer?  Once a connection
is made, what part does Gamespy play in the process?

What cheating protections?  I'm starting to see
odd files, like "Terrrain".something, reported as
mismatched.  What mismatch reports indicate problems?
My files are all original and unpatched, except for
my PLR file of course.

Well supposedly only F1c cars are supposed to be able to run in a F1 C
session.  And if we go to a GT Mod, then only GT type cars should be able
to join.  In F1 2k1/2, any tom*** or harry with an F1 rocket could
intrude into a GTR session(or any other mod)
On Sunday, SOMEBODY was mismatched.  THere were several error messages.
