GPL and multiple controllers

Hi folks,

the new racing rig arrived last week (including a g25), and last night I
tried getting GPL to work on the new machine. I have two controllers
connected to the PC (both USB): a Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS stick /
throttle combo and the g25. I used the GPL mx installer to create a
fresh GPL install.

Problem is, while GPL sees the axes on both controllers fine, it only
responds to buttons on the first device (the cougar), but sees none of
the buttons on the g25 or its shifter (which is set to sequential mode
at the moment).

I've tried using GPLShift, but that hasn't helped with the problem,
either.

Also, GPL crashes on exit (BSOD on xp pro sp2, latest updates installed)
when I've taken to the track during the session (exits fine if I just
click around in the menus), both using the dx7 and opengl renderers.
Indexing is permitted on the gpl folder, is there anything else I could
try?

Thanks in advance for your comments, uwe

If memory serves me well, I think GPL combines all controllers and
sees them as one. From there it supports the first 8 axis and the
first 16 buttons or something in that range.

I also thought GPLShift fixed this, but I never had to use it for
this, so I can't confirm. As workaround you can use the Logitech
profiler, and bind the buttons to keys.

Do you also have the problem that, when you switch views in replay
mode, the screen was only partially drawn? That's what I got
when I updated the nvidia drivers to the latest. An older version did
work fine.

Cheers!

Uwe,

In GPLShift.ini, do you have the line Share_All_16_AXES = 1 near the
bottom of the file?  That should take care of it.

In the Control Panel > Game Controllers window, does everything
operate OK?

Does the CTD ever happen while on-track?  Are you running the 66 mod
when it crashes on exit?  You must set the Clutch_Shift_Sound = OFF
for some reason.  Other 66 mod problems and solutions can be found at
http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=307166

Otherwise a CTD can be caused by many things that are listed in the
GPL FAQ at http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=105748  It
could even be related to your sound device, so one thing to try is
reducing the hardware acceleration of the sound card.  There have been
problems with monitors not coping well with the change of res from in-
car to the menus which are always at 640x480 res.

Remco,  From the GPL FAQ:

GPL runs as only a small square in the top corner of the screen
1- The line in the core.ini:
[ Direct3D7 ]
DirectMirrorRendering = 1
Change it to
DirectMirrorRendering = 0

Hello Bob,

thanks for your comments and suggestions. GPLShift recognized
the shifter on the 3rd try, no idea what it took a couple of tries.

Yep!

No, it happens when exiting GPL (hitting ESC while the credits scroll
through). GPL exits ok when I've not taken to the track in any car
so I guess it must be renderer related as Remco suggested, too.

I get a BSOD, followed by an instant reboot including a crash report
to M$ ;-)

Thanks, I'll check the FAQ. Is there a way to get GPL to run at
1680x1050? This resolution is not listed in the renderer mode list.

All the best,

uwe

The RastHacker can configure custom resolutions  However, this one is
so commonly asked for and since I did one up for myself, here's a link
to an already made up one.

us. The one is harmful outwardly; the other inwardly.

596. The Psalms are chanted throughout the whole world.

Who renders testimony to Mahomet? Himself. Jesus Christ desires His own
testimony to be as nothing.

The quality of witnesses necessitates their existence always and everywhere;

597. Against Mahomet.--The Koran is not more of Mahomet than the Gospel is
of Saint Matthew, for it is cited by many authors from age to age. Even its
very enemies, Celsus and Porphyry, never denied it.

The Koran says Saint Matthew was an honest man. Therefore Mahomet was a
false prophet for calling honest men wicked, or for not agreeing with what
they have said of Jesus Christ.

598. It is not by that which is obscure in Mahomet, and which may be

what is clear is ridiculous, it is not right to take his obscurities for

It is not the same with the Scripture. I agree that there are in it
obscurities as strange as those of Mahomet; but there are admirably clear
passages, and the prop
