Multiple controllers advice please.

Hi people,

My setup is:

Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Steering Wheel (gameport version)
Logitech Wingman Force 3D Joystick (usb version)

My problem is that the controller I wish to use needs to be #1 in the
ids list in control panel.
If both controllers are installed, the wheel always grabs the #1 spot.
This is fine for Grand Prix Legends, but not so good for Combat Flight
Simulator!  :-(

I try to renumber the wheel as #3, with a view to then renumbering the
stick as #1. However, all that happens is that I get two wheels, as #1
AND #3.    Aaaargh!!!

Does anyone have any good answer to this?  It seems like the whole
game controller thing in Windows is naff.

John

P.S. I did use a non-feedback joystick, which apparently worked fine
as controller #2. However, I now discover that the game was
'officially' seeing the wheel but actually also responded to the
stick.
BUT, with that setup, using the feedback stick, no feedback effects
are felt.   ???

i had a similar problem...my f1 game always took the joystick and wouldn't see
the wheel...

i finally unplugged the joystick and wheel was recognized...i know it's a pain
but try unplugging one or the other...

This doesn't necessarily apply to other racing sims, but GPL _does_
recognize a controller on ID 2.  I would think that you can have your
joystick on ID 1 and the wheel on ID 2, and GPL would still find the
wheel.

As I said, this is not necessarily the case with all sims, however.

"Just let you know on the approach you were a little left of the centerline."

Pilot: "That is correct, Sir. And my first officer was slightly to the right."

Markus,

I found it ok. That little utility is great, and solves a silly
headache with Windows.

FYI... This is a good solution for Win9x only.  It will not work with Win2K
or Windows XP.
