S2_3DFX + TM GP1 - NO GO??

by Mike Hemb » Tue, 16 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I am trying to run S2_3dfx and use TM GP1 wheel hooked
up to TM ACM game card. The only way I can get it to run
is to use keyboard controls. The GP1 calibrates ok in the
setup prog and sound works fine. When S2_3dfx is run it
appears to lock up the keyboard at the first selection
screen (zeus, condor etc). Has anyone else had this problem
and if so, is there a way to fix it?
I have tried different ports, irq's and dma's and still it only
works with keyboard controls, the ordinary hi-res version of S2
runs ok but the graphics look much smoother in the 3dfx version
except for the flecks that mainly flash across the track just in front
the car. Is this last point common with 3dfx?
Also, should it be possible to run S2 from within win 95?

Config:
P2 300, cirrus 5465 AGP, 3dfx
Booting to command prompt (selection 6, W95 osr2)
sound - 220, I5, D1
ACM port 0201

Any help greatly appreciated as I quite like this game

Thanks

Mike

I'm using Win95 release 'a', and I run it from a desktop short-cut.

The funny thing is, originaly I could only get it to run in pure dos
mode, and the sound was quieter than in the set-up. Then after
clicking on 'starth.exe', I found it ran ok in windows, and the sound
was back to a normal level.

I don't know why, but it's been ok ever since. ;o]
