GPL shifter

Well i have a GPL shifter which i`ve rewired to work through the game port,
i have downloaded some hacked CHjoy drivers to enable it to work, but i
can`t get it to work in XP.... why would i put a joy.vxd in XP to find it
when i go to set up a new controller.

I`ve got my Logitech MOMO ( usb ) working, my Speed 7 Pro 3 pedals ( usb )
working, but not this little gear lever,,,

I`ve ordered the USB version from the States but that could be a 4-6 week
wait... heres the link as to what i did... any clues or ideas would be great

Thanks Paul

XP just doesn't support the game port worth a poop...  even MS's own
sidewinder wheels (and joysticks) that were game port, will not, or hardly
work in XP...   if you ask MS for help with these issues, they only respond
with something to the effect "We're sorry but the product is not supported
in XP, you should find the newer USB version, and install the newest
software..."  just like they did for my VOODOO4 card  LOL!

oh well.  the best solution I keep hearing is to get a GamePort TO USB
converter for some things to work, and DO NOT GET THE ONE FROM RADIOSHACK...

Good luck

This all sounds very good, i have got the controller to recognise it, and
i`ve changed it to the act-labs device, but when you come to use it in a
game i.e Nascar 4 it dont work as it can`t handle the fact that its wired so
when you chose 3rd gear, thats like buttons 1+3 pressed down, shame... i
guess i will have to wait for my USB device to complete my***pit....

I hope it does come from holland as the US site says they are on back order
and that could be 4-6 weeks...

:-(

Try http://www.racesimcentral.net/%7Ejcmarsha/Wheel/
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
Has info on making an H-shifter including drivers (not XP though?), using
compound buttons, and hacking the registry (the link in the NEWS).

If you want a USB shifter start with a cheap USB gamepad:

Why didn't you just buy the 2in1 adapter box from ActLabs and convert
your RS shifter to a GPL shifter?
http://www.act-labs.com/scripts/proddetails.asp?pid=255

The RS shifter and GPL shifter are identical except that the GPL
shifter came with a USB box.
