Before you buy.
Although I may look forward to driving NFS:PU this doesn't mean I wish to
invest the time to go through the game in the regular manner. Similarly to
the TOCA games, CMR et al this is to be a fun diversion for me. I hardly
have time to devote to GPL and I'm not going to cut into that any further by
subserving myself to the arcade build up of the NFS series. A cheat for the
tracks and cheat for the cars and pure relaxation as I leasurely cruise from
A to B in my brand spanking new virtual Porsche.

If you opt for the cheats and the "leisurely cruise" through the tracks,
you'll be missing out on most of the inherent goodness in NFSPU, I
think. The "Factory Driver" mode is awesome -- at this point, I don't
care what tracks I haven't seen yet, as I'm too busy trying to figure
out how to get through the cones fast enough in a 944 to get a
promotion!
This may be the first and only game where the "locked" portions of the
game do not actually detract from the overall game for me. Plus, the
"game" does a GREAT job of simulating the "right" feel of the cars, IMO.
However you approach it -- with cheats or without -- I hope you find it
as enjoyable and engaging as I have. It's not just "fun" in the arcade
sense -- it's fun in that it feels "right."
Either way, enjoy!
