The real qualifying record at NASCAR was set by Jeff Burton last week at
just a bit under 174 mph. I imagine most of us have broken that record in
the NASCAR simulate. I think I've seen a record of 183 something at the
Papyrus site. And you want them to make the track faster?

Watching the race this weekend, i noticed that the darlington track has been
resurfaced, and that the average speeds were up something like 12 mph over the
last few years.
Can Papyrus or Jed(you god you!) make some kind of patch to reflect this?
I find driving on that track particularly annoying.

With the Track Pack, Darlington was made a bit more grippy...
repaved sorta' (Michigan, too). The problem you're having is just plain
old Darlington... the Lady in Black... the track too tough to tame. With
the Ace setup alone, your car should have the intestinal fortitude to
run laps in the low-mid 173mph range on a full tank of gas. I broke
Geoff Bodine's track record of 170.??? (already broken by Jeff Gordon at
the time of release) the very first time I ran on the track... after
warming up, of course.

Or how about a patch to add the three new concession stands on the
North end of the track. I'd really like to see these.

> MikeI believe the track record set this year by Ward Burton was in the mid to

high 173 range.  Yes, the resurface has helped with new records ( some 20
drivers beat the previous record...or so they announced on ESPN ) but I
have noticed through the racing leagues on the 'net that it is possible
to even reach 177+ mph qual times.  I don't know how, but I've seen it.
The best I've accomplished is 173.924.   No 177's, but still would be
considered a track record in reality.  Therefore resurfacing this track
would be pointless...if we can already beat REAL times.

It's possible to do 183 at Darlington.  Seen it with my own eyes.

Well, they did "repave" it in version 1.2.  With some practice, you can run
laps of 175-176 mph (my personal best is 177+), which is higher than the pole
speed for this year's TranSouth 400.
