What is, according to you, the best Force Feedback steeringwheel at this
moment?
Please tell me, as I'm planning to buy one.

Greetings,

LOL! This just illustrates the fact that there is no "best" wheel. It is the
one that works best for you. In my quest to find a copy of Papy's CART
Racing in the LA area this week, I've been in 8 or 10 different
computer/software shops. If all I knew about Force Feedback wheels was what
I found in those shops, I'd never have bought one. All of the wheels feel
terrible when unpowered and most are displayed poorly. Only Microsoft has a
device which holds the wheel in a small display and can be powered up to
feel centering forces and some effects. It's unfortunate that most of these
manufacturers haven't a clue about marketing.

Its getting on a bit in age now if you compare it to the likes of
Guillemot's Ferrari wheel but I like my Microsoft Sidewinder FF Wheel just
fine thanks!

Act labs force RS, a bit more expensive but really more "impressive",
heavier, stronger, not plastic like child toy....

Hi SpeedR,
I just posted the following to another thread:

In the moment there are 2 FF-wheels dominating the market, the Logitech WFF and
the ACTLabs RS

Pros:
Logi: smooth effects
RS: strong, solid, has ball bearing on the shaft, shifter available (works with
GPL now?), good support by Actlabs

Cons:
Logi: pedals not to everbodys liking, Support is SHIT, quite sloppy and often
defect right out of the box, especially the newer China-built
RS: Not to smooth due to the belt drive

Anybody is asked to share his further experience when extending the a.m. list.

I myself am quite involved in the Logi wheel (see my webpage) and have upgraded
my system to a quite good standard, but if I went for a new wheel now, I knew
what to do.

Jens

I have a Destiny, but wouldn't recommend it.  It was amazing when it
was new, but it has developed a fault, and works intermittently.
Imagine how annoying that is when you're on a hot lap and you lose all
the feeling.  When you get one, get a normal joystick as well to put
horizontally (excellent handbrake).  Just make sure you get stiffer
springs!

I was wondering, what do you mean by smooth? Is it a physical thing,
or is it a software thing?

I'm thinking of getting one of those two (or possibly the
Thrustmaster one), but I'm still undecided. Anybody else has any
pros/cons?

If NFS5 had support for the RS shifter, that would probably be
enough to tilt the balance, but as it is, I'm still undecided.

Not sure how you can say that.  Dominating in what sense?  User opinions,
sales, what?

Smooth is meant in a physical way.
