Rendition is the manufacturer of the Verite' chipset
that certain video cards use. Nascar 2 (and other games ) has
been optimized to run with this chipset. It offers better
graphics with better frames per second performance to boot.
Apparently it is worth the cost of one of the cards that
support it.

Some are

3D blaster PCI (from Creative Labs)
Screamin 3D (from Sierra)
Reactor and/or Intence (from Integraph)

and one or two others.

Without one of these cards you cannot run your rendition
version of Nascar 2.

The Diamond (I assume you mean the Monster3D) is an addon 3D-only card uses
the 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics chip, and as such will do nothing for N2.  To get
any kind of benifit as far as N2 is concerned you need a card using the
Rendition Verite chip.  These include the Creative 3D Blaster PCI,
Intergraph Intense3D 100, Sierra Screamin3D, and the Canopus Total3D.  The
first three card are all pretty much the same.  The Intergraph card is
cheapest, but it doesnt have a great bundle (really only ICR2).  The Sierra
card is more expensive, and has a terrific bundle.  The Creative card is
about the same price as the Sierra card, but has an even worse bundle than
the Intergraph card.  The Canopus card out performs all of the others, but
it's about $100 more expensive.  With the rate at which thingsa are
evolving, that's kind of a steep investment.  Because of this I'd recommend
the Sierra card if you want it's bundle, otherwise the Intergraph is a good
value.

I realize this is a slight tangent, but please don't flame.

I wish to get a 3D card specifically because of N2, I'm trying to
gather educated opinions on the best 3D cards. My guess is it comes
down to two brands,

Creative's & Diamond's.

Is this a good assumption? I'd immediately go with Diamond except I
have there S64 and have experience horrible tech support from Diamond.

I saw the Sierra Scream'n 3D at Sam's Club for $169.00.  At that price
its a hard buy to pass up...
