painting it.

does anyone know what kind of paint will stick?

Going on usual plastic ( I have a momo and I think this would work...)

Give it a light sand - then use a spray called plasti-coat

After that drys - sand again - another 2 or 3 coats and finish with a gloss
or matt varnish coat

Somebody here replaced the matte-black fascia on the wheel itself with a
carbon-fiber plate.  I bet it looked swell.

When the g/f and I move from rented to our own place next summer - I'm gonna
have a sim-racing SHED.  Whack myself a nice racing rig in there - and then
I'm gonna try and strip the momo down to fit into it without the red case at
all - and put my new LCD thingie on it

Looks sweet =)  Any pics of the procedure itself? And maybe some
tips... :)

BTW, has anyone painted the pedal base? I've been thinking about
painting my MOMO ever since I bought it (actually I got the idea after
my wife asked "was that the only available color" as I unpacked it ;)

Yeah, i painted mine last week. The wife was just finishing off painting a
blue suede-effects feature wall in the spare room and it looked really good,
so i thought...why not ! My new suede-effects momo does look at bit silly,
but hey it's original :-) I was too lazy to remove the base plate and just
taped the edges and used a coat of acrylic primer to hold the paint.
Cheers Phil

I'm doing that too.  I'm thinking of sticking a VFD-display on there
as well.  not sure how I can make it fit, though.

Get some carbon fibre - the sort that's a sandwich of CF - FG - FG - FG - CF
( FG=fibreglass)

This is just thick enough to replace the metal one

get a 5" x 5" blank - cover it in masking tape to minimize splinters - take
the metal plate of your momo and use it as a guide to draw onto the masking
tape

Use a dremel (wear a mask -it's HORRID stufff) to do the cutting - and when
doing the holes - use a small pilot hole and just use a slightly larger and
larger drill to avoid splintering.

Countersink the mounting holes quite a bit - clean the whole thing up - and
whack it in.

Enjoy countless hours of Carbon Fibre induced Momo goodness.

Use Vinyl Dye, this seems to be perfect for painting a Gameboy Advance, so
it should work just as well with the Momo. It's apparently relatively easy
to apply, the result doesn't look like it has been painted and it doesn't
stick or chip.

Check this thread at the handheld modifications forum at GBA Central:
http://www.gbacentral.net/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=17&t=1466&hl=&s=9...

Do a search for more tips on painting (the GBA in this case).

best wishes,

Milan

Hmm, this might actually be the hardest part... I have no idea where
to start looking.

Thanks for the tips though :)

BTW, I just got an idea for the new colour for my MOMO... the usual
"computer grey" =)  That'll fit nicely with the "new" case I just got
for my computer... It's an old Fujitsu/ICL AT desktop case which used
to house a Pentium 100MHz. Still needs some modifications before I can
fit all the ATX stuff in it =)
