SCGT, are all the tracks real?

by Arto Wik » Mon, 24 May 1999 04:00:00

I already asked this among other things, but no one answered. So once
again: Many of the SCGT tracks are American, and my knowledge of
those is very limited. Are they all real, or are there some phantasy
tracks among the SCGT tracks?

And if they are real:

1) How well they are modelled?
2) Are they used in the real GT3, GT2 and GT1 races?

There are 3 fantasy tracks; Chatam, North Point, and Sardian Park.

I'm interested in the Laguna Seca rendition, as it is the onw track in the
bunch I've actually driven.  I think they've done a very good job (much
better than CART Precision Racing, for instance).  My one complaint is that
the Corkscrew seems a bit more radical (tighter for one thing) than the
real one.

Hi Arto,

Chatam, North Point, and Sardian are fantasy tracks; the rest are real, and
most are used.  I think either Eurosport or Sky Channel will be carrying the
remaining races in the American LeMans series, so you might get a look at them
there.  As to how well they're modeled, I can only talk first-hand about Road
Atlanta, and it's not terribly close.  They forgot T2 at the top of the hill
and the elevation changes are much greater at the real track (though you don't
really catch air off the hill towards the finish.:-)  The other corners are off
a bit as well.  They did get some of the recent track improvements in, and it's
certainly recognizable, but I had hoped for better.

Cheers,

Steve B.
