Having problems initializing modem in GP2 linkup menu.

I have an internal US Robotics 28.8 Sportster modem.  Chose the
following parameters from the linkup menu in GP2:

- Com Port 3 (my usual com port for Indycar 2, Nascar, etc.)
- 19,200 Baud Rate
- Dial Tone
- US Robotics Initialization String (from Choose Modem option)

When I choose CONNECT option, the modem starts to initialize and I can
see the initialization string on screen and then the message "MODEM LINK
FAILED" shows up.

Can someone help me?

I've had the same problem.  I've tried all the modems and all speeds and
all com port combinations.  Nothing works, I've even set my PnP one
manually and it still doesn't work.  Any suggestions?
