Official Papyrus product clarification:
The NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition is based on the NASCAR 2 engine but it
will include many new features and enhancements. All of the tracks have
been updated to 1998 specs, including new tracks such as Las Vegas, the
reconfigured Atlanta, Sears Point, Texas, and Darlington. The game will
ship with 34 tracks in all, including the 1998 teams for NASCAR's top 3
series. For the first time we will have full support for the NASCAR
Craftman Truck series including new truck physics, tracks (Pikes Peak,
Homestead, Memphis, etc.) and truck rules.
NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition will be Win95 native, and have enhanced
support for 3dfx-based accelerators. There will also be many graphical
and AI improvements, including double file restarts.
There will be no NASCAR Craftman Truck add on to NASCAR 2.
NASCAR Racing 3 / NASCAR Racing 2000 Edition is still on schedule for Q2
1999. The name has not been officially decided yet, but this is the
NASCAR product to be based on the Grand Prix Legends engine.
I hope that clears up the confusion. The PR position at Papyrus has been
vacant for some time, so the information flow has been inconsistant and
inaccurate.
