Important: New GPL Rasterizers Released

Nigel Pattinson, the brilliant gentleman who is responsible for many
of the recent innovations to Grand Prix Legends, has now released new
D3D and OpenGL rasterizers for GPL. We now have true 32-bit support
for GPL! Remember the flickering menus? Gone. Lines in the sky while
running in OpenGL? No more. And this is not all. You can read the

In my experience, the display looks better in all aspects. It seems to
be brighter and more colorful. If you were seeing any banding in the
sky, it's likely gone now. Some people are reporting fps improvements.
One gentleman went from running 24-28fps at Montjuich to 31-36fps, a
significant improvement. And I've read of even greater increases. I
can't promise you'll see the same, but at least I haven't heard anyone
reporting a drop in fps.

On the year of it's 10th(!) anniversary, GPL is still evolving, and
it's a testament to the dedication of the people such as Nigel that
are continuing to research ways to improve what is in the minds of
many the greatest simracing platform ever developed. Long live GPL!

Indeed; I'd seen rumors the 32-bit rasterizers were in the works, but
finally getting hands on 'em was a very pleasant surprise - first new GPL
gizmo I've downloaded in a long time!  I'd been ignoring GPL of late since
the 16-bit colors look like ***on LCD monitors, but now it looks better
than ever.  In combination with the custom resolutions available with
rasthack, I'm enjoying it again, but now in full 32-bit glory at 1920X1200
on a 24" widescreen.

Loaded up Monza and hopped into an offline race just for yucks and ended up
only a few tenths off my PR, even though it was set years ago when I was
doing GPL all the time.  What's old is new again.. ;-)

Great! I gave up on GPL after the last time I tried to get it
displaying correctly on my 8800GT under XP. Had too many glitches to
enjoy. Hopefully all will be good again.
