We have released the second beta of the OpenGL/TNT rasterizer for
Grand Prix Legends which now includes a method to speed up the in-car
view when using OpenGL drivers that don't (yet) do a good job of
implementing glCopyTexSubImage2D.

Please note that it is UNSUPPORTED at this time.  We make no
guarantees as to whether it will work at all and cannot provide
technical support.  There are still some known issues, particularly
with video card drivers.  Use at your own risk and please read the
included readmegl.txt file carefully.

To download the driver, go to http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Excellent work around

Good FPS at both 800x600 & 1024x768 in car now.

Option to choose level of mirror redraw works well.

Well done Papy!

Cheers

Similar to Thriller at 800*600 (36 fps most of the time)

Faster than Thriller & Voodoo2 at 1024*768 (High 20s low 30s)

Using PII 450

IMHO looks better than both Thriller & Voodoo2

Also better 2D  & higher refresh for std Windows stuff than Thriller

Note: runing core.ini with
TossHighestMip = 0
MipFiltering = 3
MirrorsEvery = 3

Most details on (mirrors - cars& track only, dynamic lighting/specular
effects off)

Hope this helps

Tony

After a bit more experience with the patch

It is slower than the Thriller/Voodoo2 on tracks with lots of detail

Also at times It feels slower than the fps figure suggests - presumably
because of the jerkier mirrors.

I certainly wish the damn thing wouldn't make GPL crash for me.  Every
time I run GPL with the TNT rasterizer, I get a general protection fault
in nv4ogl.dll.  Of course, I'm using a Creative Labs card and the
rasterizer is merely a beta (only tested with an STB card) and I can't
really *** or moan to anyone in particluar...

GPL is running fine on my CL TNT AGP, but only at 640*480 res. If I select
any higher resolution the screen goes black when I try to get the car out
onto the circuit. BTW, I am using Nvidia reference 36a drivers, and not the
CL drivers.
