N2 Anti-Alliasing Patch Delay ?

by August Branches » Wed, 25 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I read a post from Ken (CEO) of Sierra saying that the guy who did all the
3D work apparently left to go to a hardware company...One of the reasons
why 3DFX owners will not  see a patch anytime soon.

I was curious, does this  mean that the anti-aliasing patch is on
indefinite hold ? :(

Partly correct.  Mike Newhall was the person in charge of the Rendition
code for N2, and he has apparently left for another company.  Papyrus
then consolodated the other in-house programmers (familiar with the code)
to have a working copy for release.  It is these programmers who will be
working on any proposed anti-alaizing patch, but I'm not sure what they
have in mind for a schedule.

N2 doesn't support 3DFX, only the Speedy3D code for the Verite chip
(on the Rendition-based cards).
