Just got my new LWFF for Xmas and thanks to those who helped in getting
things right. I have been racing with GPL for about 6 months now and using a
Microsoft Precision Pro and going slower than I want to but was getting
faster and able to stay on the track, mostly. With this new wheel I cant
seem to make it around the track once without hitting the wall. The FF
effect is quite different also, not sure I like it, at this point. Has
anyone else been through this switch in controllers and how long will it
take to get back up to speed?(134.50 at Monza, if you call that speed)
Thanks for any replies, Alastair.

Give yourself some time, and stick some stiffer springs in the pedal base. I
switched from a TM wheel and it took about a week in GPL to get down to the
same times I was doing before the swap. Stick with it, it's worth it.

My previous PB at Monza was a 1:28.71 in an Eagle with a TM GP1 wheel. I
got my LWFF on Dec.9th and was VERY displeased to see laptimes in the
high :31's to mid :32's.
I've been a bit too busy to log serious hours with the LWFF (maybe 1/2
hour a day), but tonight I got a 1:29.50. Still a bit to go, but I'm
really gettin the feel of the wheel. Even the pedals aren't completely
usless if you can find a cheap-o Nerf football to cut up & squeeze under
the pedals to stiffen 'em up. Thanks again to whomever it was that gave
me the core.ini files for ForceFeedback after I made the post about
Allison's settings being a bit weak for my taste... I owe you a beer!

Yes, I switched (don't laugh), from an ultra racer (arcade type wheel), to
my Logitech. It will take about two weeks to get used to the logitech.
I'm not sure if the Microsoft was a Joystick or a wheel. If it was a
joystick, then it will take awhile to get used to using your feet. If the
Microsoft you replaced was a wheel, I'm not sure if the Logitech is any
better than the Microsoft.

Guess I'm odd man out again. <G>  Switched from a TM NASCAR Sprint to a
LWFF about a month ago.  Saw a dramatic improvement in times in *all* my
sims almost immediately.  And contrary to how most people seem to feel,
I don't mind the brake pedal at all.  Then again, I right-foot brake &
that may make a big difference.  I just turn the brake pedal sensitivity
down to the next to the lowest setting & it works fine for me.

Don,

instead of stiffer springs I recommend the door-stopper plus trimmer. To avoid
big discussions in case of warranty-claim, don't drill too many holes ;-)

Works really nice.

I started driving GPL with a TM Grandprix 1 and after switching to the
LWFF (driving with pedals for the first time!) I really sucked ... it
took me about 2 weeks and approx. 20 hours of practice to get used to
it. But it's worth it!
