Say Rick, I don't know if you were reading r.a.s., but when Nascar
came out, there was a thread about changing the "save race" format to
eliminate or reduce the possibility of cheating. Basically, how hard
would it be to have a save option where everything is saved and not just
the cars' positions? So, once you "load" up the race, everything is exactly
like you left it instead of a single file/yellow flag restart.
It would almost be like you hit <ESC> to get to the race menu (as if you
were going to watch a replay). How much diskspace would it take to "save
that data. So, instead of going back into a race after watching a replay,
that data could be saved onto disk and you could switch off the computer.
Therefore, when you want to continue the race, it would be as if you had
just watched a replay. Everything would be in the exact same position as
you left it. That way, if you were about to go one lap down, you could no
longer "save" the race and come back starting in a single file restart
without a worry of going a lap down. Instead, when you load the race, you
would find yourself almost one lap down.
How 'bout it?

The current save/load function is supposed to approximate what happens
when a red flag is brought out (e.g., heavy rain) during a race.
