NASCAR Won't save settings

I have the cd-rom version of NASCAR and after I leave each track a huge red
box appears and says it can't save track settings.  I have installed it 3
times and it won't get fixed.  I can still race, save races and then pick
up where I left off.  Is it suppose to save your fastest lap and then show
it each time you enter the appropriate track?  Anyone have this problem
and/or have any suggestions.  Thanks
