So I am running a GT2 car at Road Atlanta in a 1hr race.  20 minutes
into the race the entire field is still within 3 seconds.  Even though
more than half the field had taken unscheduled pitstops to repair
damage.  I had taken 2 and was due in for another :)

So what's the deal with Road Atlanta?  Why does the field stay so
packed up after 20min even though there had been several drivers in
the pits?  And why the 3-wide going through several of the turns?  I
was "innocently" involved in 4 or 5 accidents because of somebody
putting together a wreck in front of me.

I've often noticed this tendency for sims (or carsets for sims) to try and
make the racing "better" or "more exciting" than real life. Basically they
reflect the designer's vision of what racing is about, rather than an exact
representation.

Could be an unfortunate turn of events as well, of course, where several RL
randomizing factors absent from the sim conspire to produce an unrealistic
race.

Since I installed the 1.551 patch to SCGT, that sort of thing has not
occurred on my PC, although it was pretty evident before.  The AI seems
to be a bit more realistic now, but has too many wrecks during the
first lap.  If you qualify toward the back of a field, or are running
in a mixed field, you really have to watch out for the AI in front of
you trying to win in lap one, turn one and the esses.

If you SCGT racers want some fun, load up SCGT v1.5xx (recent
version), go into Quick race and race a GT3 or possibly GT2 race
around Road Atlanta.  Make sure you don't allow modified cars.  You
could take pitstops every 5 minutes and you'd still be in contact with
the field.

Many many accidents in the pack.  Seems like nearly every turn,
somebody is a spinner!
