GP2 - Steering help problem

   Hi all,

I can't seem to disable steering help. I use the keyboard and the steering
help seems to be selected, but I cannot deselect it or anything else on
that particular options panel. The buttons don't seem to be enabled, is it
for joystick only ? Weird, or am I forgetting something ?

PS: Gotta return to my race, poor jean Alesi, oil problem on lap 8, took
him/me from 1st to 22nd, back to 3rd on lap 18, but bad pit stop....Damn,
I gotta do it all over again ! ;-) This game is magnificent !

I have the same problem. Do you have the US version as well?

I have the European version and have the same problem. Anyone know how to deselect it?

In the Control Method/Advanced Menu, you see that list of control options
(Keyboard, Joystick, Custom Set 1, Custom Set 2, Custom Set 3, Custom Set 4)?
Click on one of the Custom Set buttons and you can then customize the keyboard
map whichever way you want, including disabling steering help.

You're not alone.  I was mystified at the Advanced Menu too, trying to disable
steering help for my joystick.

Tried this and it doesn't work!

The only way I can disable the steering help at all is to select one of
the control 'not used' boxes and select joystick from the drop down menu
in the steering section, the otions are then lit up. I cannot disable
the steering help at all if keys are selected.

Given that Geoff Crammond spent five years developing this prog I would
have thought he could have at least got the control options spot on.
He must have spent four and a half years down the pub and six months
knocking up what is turning out to be a half baked sim.

I'm still enjoy it but it is annoying that some of the good features of
FGP1 have been discarded, it's a shame.

Regards
Dave

Keyboard steering requires steering help, AFAIK you cannot deselect it.
The only answer is to get yourself a joystick or even better a wheel and
pedals.

I don't remember being able to deselect steering help with the keyboard
in F1GP either.

What if we are using a joystick, and it won't let us deselect the option
anyway??

Thanks,

Scott

Mmmm. How hard have you tried? Did you select Control Options from the
main menu, then try selecting Custom1 make the appropraite settings for
analogue steering and uncheck the steering help and opposite lock boxes.

For those keyboard and joystick users that wish to deselect steering help, go
to the Control Method Advanced Menu and click on Custom Set 1.  That will allow
you to do all the control method tweaking you want.

Remember to save your control setup afterwards!
