There have been some messages in the microsoft.public.directx
newsgroup about the direct sound component in directx6 and AWE64
Soundblasters causing games to crash. The solution has been to disable
the sound card when using directx6.
You can't just reinstall directx5, you have to remove directx6 first.
There are apparently some utilities available to do this (sorry I
don't have any links, someone else might like to help here)
