GPL - Nurburgring virgin.

I've finally started a full season of GPL. (Don't ask).

I got to the Nurburgring for the first time...

I thought I must've taken a wrong turning, because 10 minutes after pulling
out of the pits, I finally found them again!

So, I decided to re-start the session, and follow someone else to make sure
I went the right way...

We were going along nicely, when we came to a long straight, he was a bit
slower than me, so I got my toe down, and went past him, to have some fun.
Well...I came over a rise, took off, bounced on landing, and cleared the
***y fence! I found myself doing 100+ mph in a field! I managed to collect
and slow the car, but couldn't find a way back onto the track.

All good fun! :-D

lol ;-)

There aren't really /any/ corners on the 'ring that you could call easy, but
the one that keeps me coming back to it is that after 6 or 7 minutes of
wheel twirling the straight lulls you into a false sense of security, then
throws a spanner into the machinery with the (almost) last corner on the lap
;-)

I've spent literally years lapping the 'ring in gpl, and that corner under
the bridge still catches me out, and because it's such a high speed corner
it makes a big difference to your lap time if you get it right.

I can take it at around 170mph pretty consistently, in the Lotus I can get
it up to around 175mph on a good run, and I managed 184mph once, but I've
never come close since.

As you approach the bridge at 185-190mph, turn in and lift to half-throttle
just slightly too early. As you car goes light over the rise it will drift
away from the inside hedge and if you get it right you should /just/ miss
the fence on the right.
You can just about take it flat out in the Cooper.

Very satisfying if you get it right ;-)
