Just heard it too...
Crashed hard into T-3 wall head-on during practice... had to be cut from
the car. Airlifted out & died at the hospital. Pisser in a BIG way...

Oh My God....I love racing, and I hate racing, when I hear things like this.
Neither Adam or the Petty family deserved anything like this. A sad
day......Ed

I'm shocked. I can't believe it. Sim racing has suddenly lost its appeal
to me for now.

I really hate this part of racing. And what a heartbreak for the Petty
family- losing Lee just a bit ago and now Adam.

2000 will be a terrible year of memory for the Petty Family.
First Lee and now Adam. My condolences goes out to the families,

This is, indeed, a dark day. It really makes you appreciate the fact that
every time a driver steps into the racecar, he puts his life on the line. I
really cannot be more eloquent at this time. My condolences to Adam's
family, his crew, and his friends.

A great year for NASCAR racing as a sport is shadowed by this news, the most
open and mixed up season for a long time (how it should be) is stained by
this heartbreaking news.

He was only 19 years old. What a shame. He died during a practice run for
qualifying for tomorrow's race. Please, no Bud - Light jokes ;-(

This is unbelievable. He was going to be the one I was going to root for. I
was drawn a bit more to him first because I work for Sprint PCS and I get
all kinds of promo literature for him. I was about to place an order for
some T-shirts and a Cap. I even made up my car In Nascar 3 to look like his.
I always have a tendency to root for the underdog or new guys. I was really
looking forward to seeing him move up the ropes. What a damn shame. He had a
heck of a life in front of him.

Unfortunately I know very little of his career as we don't get good coverage
of Nascar/Busch here in England. It just makes me sad that people still die
to bring us the motorsport that we love to watch. We should never
underestimate the risks these drivers take every day. It is easy to become
complacent over safety. Tragedies like this should make us concentrate our
efforts to stop these deaths.

Finally, and above all, our thoughts should be with his family and friends
at this time.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family tonight. I was horrified
when I heard about it on the news.

Unbelievable! Here I thought it was just some sort of sick joke, till I
confirmed it on NASCAR.com. May Adam find the peace he has now earned.
My prayers & deepest sympathies to all his friends, family & fans in

I wasn't a fan of his and really didn't think he even belonged in stock car
racing being so small and young. I was having a nice, relaxing Friday afternoon
until I heard this shit. Had to check it out at NASCAR's site to make sure you
weren't just screwing around. Unbelievable. :(
