I don't think it had anything to do with it, but after I upgraded my system
from 16 to 32 megs of EDO memory, I started having problems with
calibrating my T1. The steering always works ok, but the pedals would
either not work at all, or the break would wrap around and become the gas
after moving so far. I have found a solution here, and it may work for
others.
1st. If the pedals do not respond at all, delete the CALIB.VAL and the
CONTROLS.CFG files. From the main screen, select options and recalibrate.
The pedals may now respond, but you may have the " wrap around " feature.
2nd. If the pedals are still screwed, delete the two files again, and then
re-calibrate your JS in Win95. Select Custom : 2 axis, 4 button, Special
Features , is a Race car controller. Go through the calibration procedures
in Win95. Run N2 and recalibrate your joystick.
3rd. If the pedals are still hosed, delete the 2 files again, Select Start
| Settings | Control Panel | System | Device Manager | Sound, Video, Game
Controllers. Remove the Gameport Joystick. If the system wants to reboot
when you select OK, go ahead and do so.
When the system reboots, go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add New
Hardware. when asked if you want Windows to search for new hardware,
select NO. Select Sound, Video, Game Controllers | Microsoft | Gameport
Joystick . Let Windows reload your joystick driver.
No go back and recalibrate the joystick in Windows. Run N2 and recalibrate
there. Your T1 should now work correctly.
Procedure 3 has worked everytime I have lost control of my pedals. Which
has happened 3 times today due to my messing around with multiplayer and
moving / deleting stuff.
I am using the gameport on the SB16, and a T1. These procedures may not
work if you are using a ACM, but since the CH3 uses the Microsoft joystick
driver, it should work with a CH3.
***** Disclaimer *******
All of the above steps were tested as I wrote this, so I know they work.
If done incorrectly, the worse off you could be would be that your joystick
wouldn't work. But it didn't work anyway, or you shouldn't be dorking
around with it!!
Good luck,
Robert
