Try a TSW. They are very nice, start at about $220, and most importantly,
are made of steel. :)

So I went to get back on track but the damned vehicle would only go
round in circles. In the heat of battle this did not go down too well
so I gave the wheel a couple more hefty full locks, there was this
snappy-cracky sound, and that was its end - the wheel now span on its
axis freely... oops!
Since then I've been using a joystick and happy with it, but what with
all this talk of FF on GPL I may have to think again.
