I got a black flag warning for driving through the gravel (?). I do
not seem to get any penalty when driving on despite the black flag
warning. According to the official rules i should be disqualified. Is

Yeah I get em when I mis judge the chicane
I think youjust get a power loss for a short time.
Also I have never in all my Gp2 races have seena car called
in for 10 sec penalty due to dodgy start.
Does anyone know if GP2 has this feature

I received a black flag for flying over the track. Must have soared by two or
three turns. I was looking for the flight control tower to get clearence for
landing.<g>

I noticed that it slows you down for a couple of seconds before letting you continue at full pace.

No, as far as I am aware, their is no provision for pit stop style
penalties. This joins Weather, and Network on the missing list.

Haven't you noticed the 10 second power loss period after you're
shown a black flag???
The black flag was implemented very late in the GP2 code to prevent
cheating by running outside the chicanes. This was done by request of
the great guys maintaining the "Hall of fame" etc. in order to make it
more difficult to make phony hotlaps.
A better solution would be to make a black flagged driver enter the
pits for a 10 second stop and go penalty. I guess we have to hope
Mr. Crammond will fix this in the GP2 upgrade.
But anyhow, it is better with a black flag with a 10 second power loss
than *no* black flag at all. I used to bypass the chicanes (especially at
Hockenheim) if I needed to gain a few seconds on my opponents, but
that is impossible now. You lose more time under the 10 second power
loss period than you gain by driving around the chicane.

I'm still struggling to beat Schumacher and Hill at pro level. But at least I
beat them at semi-pro level. I don't dare to try ace level yet. I don't
want to end up in 15th or 16th place :-)
What GP2 upgrade ???
I got one during Practice in Spa. I spun and sort of missed the chicane :-)
I kept driving & it went away. Since it was practice I was not penalized.
I'll probably get fined :-)
