so, with ea not renewing their 4 year $25million dollar f1 license (signed
back in 1999 and up with the release of f1 2003 next summer), who's gonna
make any f1 games?

sony?

its been suggested ea didnt renew the license because they couldnt get
exclusive rights to the sport like theyve managed to get for nascar.

theres a quote in this weeks MCV saying that f1 was eas 2nd biggest sports
sector after fifa, so its a bit of a suprise.

Ubi Soft has RS3 coming out in December. No license this time.

I suspect it might also have something to do with the greatly reduced
following that F1 has. In the UK they have quoted 5 million fewer viewers
for TV coverage.

   This could be good.

I didn't get the last Ubi F1 sim, it didn't come to my part
of the U.S.

I think people were impressed with the accuracy of the tracks
and the graphics, but were disappointed by the A.I.  I don't
remember the take on the Ubi physics modeling.

This might be fine.  If Ubi brings those strengths to this
sim, with no licensing to limit on-line play, and third parties
creating models of the real cars, this could a great online sim.

F1RC had some good features. Let down by mainly by poor AI. Well, bizarre AI. I
still claim my greatest ever race against AI was in F1RC (after applying some
3rd party patches), but it was a one off, really curious.

If RS3 addressed these issues and further develops the physics model it could be
good. Certainly an F12002 beater IMO.

Now I am sure the argument will rage over Ubisoft failing to deliver the
promised F1RC patch but I will remain open minded on RS3.

Despite claims of certain members of this group being Papyrus lovers, I still
reckon we are all fickle enough to jump ship to any product that might deliver.
If GP5 proved to be a truly awesome sim embraced by the sim community at large,
IMHO those that criticised GP4 are unlikely to refuse to purchase it on
principal.

Cheers

"some", which could have been closely summarised by saying it had excellent
track acurracy ;)

RS3 looks like a backstep from F1RC.  More then a MGPRS2 sequel.

Nobody should ever buy a Geoff Crammond game that is stuck with his
technology of a 15-year old game engine (it's really that old).

The ADD console market has really no interest for serious or non-serious F1
racing sims.

The publisher prevented the promised patch for F1RC. Not Ubi Soft. That
publisher is not around for RS3.

Well you aren't from the U.K. no?  Same for me, I'm not from France. Those
***ers at Ubisoft can shovel their crappy-looking RS3 you know where.  They
indeed lied,.there won't ever be a patch for F1RC.  The sequel looks even
worse then F1RC.

No they weren't. Can't remember the publisher's name, but they were in
control of the game, not Ubi Soft.
